A men’s manicure does not need to involve polish or visible styling. Even nail length, smooth edges, cared-for cuticles and moisturised hands are the essentials. The result is discreet and works regardless of profession, age or everyday style.
At Studio AP, a men’s manicure takes 40 minutes. We match the scope to the nail plate and skin without covering changes that require diagnosis.
What does a natural manicure include?
- shortening and evenly shaping the nails
- smoothing the edges with a file
- careful cuticle care
- cleansing and a neat nail finish
- hand care matched to skin dryness
Deeply cutting the cuticles at home is not recommended. Cuticles form a protective barrier around the nail growth area, and injury increases the risk of inflammation and infection.
How should hands be cared for between visits?
Dry hands thoroughly after washing and use a simple hand cream when needed. Wear gloves for cleaning, gardening and prolonged wet work. Trim nails with a clean tool and file in one direction rather than tearing uneven edges.
What is better not done at home?
Do not bite cuticles, tear hangnails or use unsuitable sharp tools. Aggressive buffing can thin the nail plate, while covering discolouration without assessment makes the change harder to monitor. If hands are frequently exposed to detergents, manicure does not replace protective gloves and regular moisturising.
When should manicure be postponed?
Pain, swelling, discharge, green or dark discolouration, nail lifting, rapidly increasing thickness or a persistent change requires specialist assessment. Cosmetic manicure does not treat nail fungus, nail psoriasis or cancerous changes and should not conceal them.
Frequently asked questions
Does a men’s manicure look shiny?
It does not have to. A natural finish leaves the nail plate without colour or obvious shine.
How often should it be repeated?
Usually every few weeks, although nail and cuticle growth varies. Regular moisturising makes the greatest difference between appointments.
