A cosmetology consultation is the best start when you do not know whether your skin needs cleansing, exfoliation, regeneration, mesotherapy or simply a calmer home routine.
A well-conducted consultation saves time, because it limits the random testing of treatments and cosmetics.
What is worth preparing?
- a list of the cosmetics you currently use, ideally with photos of the ingredients
- information about retinol, acids, dermatological medications and supplements
- a history of allergies, cold sores, keloids, diseases and aesthetic treatments
- information about pregnancy, breastfeeding, drug therapy or medical procedures
- a real goal: discolouration, acne, dryness, redness, scars, wrinkles or skin tension
What does the conversation look like?
We discuss the skin, home care, earlier reactions to cosmetics and treatments, lifestyle and contraindications. Sometimes the most important decision is to postpone a strong treatment and rebuild the skin barrier.
A consultation helps decide whether a cleansing treatment is better, for example hydrogen cleansing, a stimulating one, for example Dermapen, or a calming one, for example Christina Unstress.
Why do we not always start with a strong treatment?
Skin irritated by retinoids, acids, tanning or aggressive cleansing may react badly to active procedures. Then the plan starts with regeneration, SPF and simplifying the routine. Only later can we return to peels, microneedling or mesotherapy.
What do you get after a consultation?
The most important thing is direction: which problems are the priority, what to drop, what to keep, which treatment to choose first and what to realistically expect. The plan may cover a single visit, a series or a stage of preparing the skin.
The best treatment is not the most fashionable one, but the one that responds to the real condition of the skin. A consultation lets you check this before deciding.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a cosmetology consultation take?
Usually several dozen minutes, depending on the needs of the skin and the number of questions. It is time for a health interview, a skin assessment and setting a plan.
Should I come to the consultation without make-up?
Ideally with cleansed skin or in light make-up that is easy to remove. This makes assessing the condition of the skin easier.
Is a consultation needed before every treatment?
With injectable and stronger procedures qualification is necessary. With simpler treatments a short conversation and a health interview are usually enough.
