Acne treatment support
Cosmetology support for acne-prone skin. Light of selected wavelengths helps limit inflammation, calm lesions and work on post-inflammatory marks. The treatment does not replace dermatological care.
Treatment and recovery
Sensations during treatment
Pulses feel like warmth and a brief snap; the sensation tends to be stronger over active inflammatory lesions.
Return to everyday activities
Redness lasts a few hours after the session, and inflammatory lesions may temporarily look more visible. For a few days we pause strong acids, retinol and mechanical scrubs.
Treatment plan
Most often a series of several sessions every 2-4 weeks, matched to the course of treatment and the skin response. The plan follows qualification and a conversation about medication.
How does light support acne-prone skin?
We work along two paths. Shorter wavelengths act on Cutibacterium acnes bacteria present in sebaceous follicles, while wavelengths reaching deeper warm the sebaceous glands and the tissue around inflammatory lesions, which can limit redness and swelling. In addition, light absorbed by haemoglobin helps calm the red post-inflammatory marks left after lesions resolve.
What this treatment does not do
Light is not a causal therapy for acne and does not replace treatment led by a doctor. With moderate and severe lesions, nodules or cysts, and during isotretinoin therapy, we refer to a dermatologist and return to the treatment only after the therapy ends and the recommended interval has passed. For the same reason a conversation about current medication precedes every qualification.
Cheeks or the whole face?
The “cheeks” option covers the most common zone of inflammatory lesions and works well for limited acne and as a first session. The “face” option covers everything, including the T-zone and chin, where lesions often persist longest. Both take 30 minutes.
Frequently asked questions about light for acne
Will the treatment dry the skin out?
The skin can feel temporarily more matte and tight after a session. We do not stop moisturising: a well-chosen barrier cream and SPF are part of the plan, because dehydrated skin responds with more oil production.
Can the treatment be done with active pustules?
Isolated inflammatory lesions do not rule out a session, but an extensive flare, weeping lesions or infection are reasons to postpone the appointment and consult a doctor.
Treatment variants
Benefits
- Support in calming inflammatory lesions
- Work on excess sebum and red post-acne marks
- A short session without needling the skin
Who it is for
For people with mild to moderate acne vulgaris or rosacea looking for cosmetology support alongside medical care, and for skin with post-inflammatory marks.
What results to expect
Inflammatory lesions can become calmer and the skin less shiny; red marks after lesions may gradually fade. The result depends on the type of acne, any parallel treatment and home care.
